Taking the learning out of textbooks and classroom, the student-led Academic Fair showcased learning in its many forms. Held on the 16th of October, the Fair aimed to provide students with hands-on learning through experiments, games, word play and drama. The students of Classes III, IV and V ran the fair, and turned into educators, setting up different stalls and exhibits. The students showcased truly out of the box thinking in the working models and experiments for EVS. They articulately took the parents through the various stages of the experiments while explaining the science behind it. The various concepts in Mathematics that might seem daunting in the classroom, became easy to demonstrate through games. Large dice and pizza slices helped students and parents understand fractions and ratios while having fun! Tongue twisters, rhymes, puppet shows, and language games made the little litterateurs masters of both Hindi and English. The Fair brought out the many talents that the children have, while teaching them other skills necessary to pull off such an event.
Experiential learning is vital for the holistic development of children. Opportunities, such as the Academic Fair ensures that children learn to think in different ways and apply their learning out of the classrooms as well.
