Independence Day Celebration – Bagless Day Activities
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Public School, East of Kailash observed 13th August as a Bagless Day, providing students with an opportunity to learn through joyful, creative and experiential activities. The day began with a special assembly which filled the school with patriotic spirit.
Balvatika 1 celebrated the day with a joyful kite-flying activity. Fathers joined their children on the football ground and flew colourful kites together. The activity created beautiful memories and strengthened the special bond between children and their fathers. Prep students coloured sheets with national symbols and identified them in a game. Class I students dressed up as freedom fighters and recited their slogans. Class II participated in a variety of patriotic and creative activities. Students dressed up as freedom fighters and introduced themselves. They also created colourful handprint peacocks, completed freedom fighter colouring activities and explored the national colours through a healthy tricolour food activity, arranging orange, white and green food items. Class III brought history and Indian heritage to life through the engaging ‘Museum of India Comes Alive’ activity. Students dressed as freedom fighters, national symbols, monuments, scientists, sportspersons and Indian cultural icons. The classrooms and corridors were transformed into a living museum, with children becoming exhibits. Each child wore a handmade paper ‘Push Button’ on their wrist. When visitors pretended to press the button, the child confidently introduced their chosen personality or symbol in Hindi or English. Class IV participated in the ‘India I Want to Build’ activity, where students expressed their ideas and aspirations for the India they wish to see in the future. Class V engaged in a creative tricolour wall-hanging craft, using the colours of the Indian national flag to create attractive decorative pieces. This was followed by a patriotic declamation. The Bagless Day on 13th August was an engaging, educational and memorable celebration of India’s freedom.
