Delhi Public School, East of Kailash participated in the prestigious Kanwar Ashish Cricket Tournament held yearly in the month of September. The matches kicked off on September 10, 2024 with a tough match against DPS Mathura Road in which DPS East of Kailash emerged victorious. The DPS EOK team followed it up with a series of wins that brought them to the finals against DPS Gurgaon Sector 45 on September 28, 2024.
Having set a target of 65 runs, the DPS EOK team went out to field. The bowlers presented a tough fight, with fielding to match. The DPS Gurgaon team stepped up to the challenge and crossed 60 runs. With just 5 more runs to make, tensions ran high. The EOK team, however, did not buckle under pressure. When Mihishka Gautam of II-C stepped up to the crease, the match could have gone either way. However, as the ball soared in the sky, the EOK fielders worked as one unit and Samad Ahmad of I-D caught the ball, booting out the Gurgaon team at 62 all out. Months of hard work, perseverance and discipline had finally come to fruition. Having snatched a victory out of the jaws of defeat, the DPS EOK finally brought home the coveted Kanwar Ashish Cup.
Kian Sethia of II-F, Kabir Soni of II-A, Ehit Vasu Kaushik of II-A, Samad Ahmad of I-D and Gavisht Khosla of II-B received the Man of the Match titles in different matches for their exceptional contributions to the team. The Girl of the Tournament title was given to Mihishka Gautam of II-C for taking two wickets. Samad Ahmad received the Bowler of the Series title for his astounding bowling skills. The Kanwar Ashish Tournament brought the 50 years’ celebration of the school to a higher pitch and showcased yet another avenue where DPS EOK continues to shine!
