Lemonade Making

Beat the heat!
The start of summer means the start of scorching heat. To keep ourselves cool and fresh, we at Delhi Public School, EoK, had a lemonade making activity in all classes. The children brought ingredients from home and assembled the lemonade in class. Innovative additions to the lemonade caused shouts all around of “Yummy!”, “Wow! It’s delicious.”, “So cool!” The excitement of making something themselves kept the heat pangs at bay! The children had brought decorative glasses and straws, along with mats/napkins, to keep their work area clean.

Eid-ul-Fitr

Eid was celebrated in Delhi Public School, East of Kailash , in April 2023. A special assembly was held on the P.A. system, commemorating the occasion. Each class saw a video on the story behind Eid, on their classroom Brio board. The students of Nur-II did interesting craftwork related to Eid. Classes III-V had a gift wrapping activity. They used recycled paper with innovative craft items made of waste material. The empty boxes brought by the children were beautifully decorated with these. The spirit of giving during Eid was highlighted.

Activities for Lifeskills

To encourage independence and self- reliance, we practice certain lifeskill requirements in a fun manner. At DPS EoK we constantly endeavour to make the children take care of their belongings, as well as themselves. Lifeskill activities are an interactive way of taking pride in oneself. In May 2023, classes III-V had an activity for folding clothes and buttoning shirts. They did these in class, and felt very proud at being able to do so independently. The children promised to fold their clothes neatly at home henceforth, as well as help their parents in doing so!

LABOUR DAY

The wheels of DPS EoK are kept smoothly running by each and every staff member. An important and indispensable cog of these wheels are the helper staff. To acknowledge their contribution and support in our school, the children are encouraged to appreciate and express gratitude on a daily basis. On Labour Day, 1st May 2023, the children offered a small token of thanks to all the helpers and gave them a memento. The smiles and delight on their faces as the children said ‘Thank you’ was a gift in itself.

Orientation 2023-24

The Orientation programme for the new session was held in April 2023, each class being assigned a different day. It started with a short cultural presentation, followed by the Headmistress’s address. The class and subject teachers were introduced, and the coordinators spoke briefly about the methodology followed. The use and requirement of the textbooks and notebooks was explained, as was the pattern of tests and exams. The parents were encouraged to ask questions to clear doubts. The interactions brought forth issues which were of common concern to all, and were satisfactorily resolved. This being the first offline orientation after the pandemic, it was well attended and interesting for both school and parents.

Class V Annual Day

Dharti Kahey Pukar Ke –The theme of the class V Annual Day was to remind us about the pristine glory of Mother Earth, and remind us of the steps we need to take to protect and preserve it. This was depicted in a graceful manner by the children. The  presentation included a confluence of yoga and dance, a tableaux, a street play, and songs. The children took an oath to proactively reduce, reuse and recycle, and work towards  leaving the earth in a better shape for future generations.

Nursery Graduation Day

Colours of Joy- The Nursery Graduation Day brought alive colours-in our eyes, our minds and our hearts. It was an absolute delight to watch the tots sing, dance, and spread their love in a rainbow hue! They presented colours in nature, at play, and wherever else we looked. The class teachers of nursery also performed a dance, wearing coordinated colours with their classes. Colours of Joy  turned into colours of love, fun happiness, pride and loads of smiles!!!

Annual Days of classes Prep, Class I & Class II

The Annual Day of each of the classes Prep,I,II was held as a closing ceremony of their Sports Day. It was a culmination of the year long sports activities held in school. The children displayed various fun ways of staying fit and energetic, like yoga, coordinated drills, zumba, skating etc. There were fun races as well, with the enthusiastic parents cheering their little ones. A riot of colour and music emanated from the football ground, and created an exuberant atmosphere.

Third Language Orientation

The Third Language Orientation was held in East of Kailash in December 2022. This is important to appraise the parents of students in class III, as they need to decide which language they would like to opt for in class IV.

The available options are Sanskrit, Spanish, German and French. The language teachers introduced the languages and highlighted their roles and importance and uses in future endeavours for the children. Students of classes IV and V presented songs, skits and recitation in their chosen third languages. This orientation helps both parents and children to understand and determine the selection of a third language.

Class III Annual Day

Durbar e Akbari -The theme of the class III Annual Day brought alive the royal court of the Mughal emperor Akbar in East of Kailash! The stage was resplendent with golden pillars, decorations and an all pervasive atmosphere of regalia. The children thoroughly enjoyed going back in time, to understand the atmosphere of ancient kingdoms. The wit and banter between Akbar and Birbal, as well as other courtiers was immensely enjoyable. Qawallis, court dances, skits and songs complemented and highlighted Durbar e Akbari!
