Class IV Annual Day

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- This was the theme of the class IV Annual Day, held in December 2022. India is the embodiment of the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- The whole world is my family! A skit, recitation and various dances encouraged us to embrace everyone and everything in the world, to move forward towards a peaceful, non-violent co-existence. Also, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is the theme for India’s G 20 presidency for 2022-23, which is a matter of pride and honour for us. This being the first annual day after the pandemic, led to immense excitement and joy in its presentation. The children and parents ensured that it was a resounding success, sparing no effort and hard work.

Rajasthan Day was celebrated in class IV in October 2022. The Great Indian Desert is an interesting and interactive lesson in the EVS syllabus. Taking cues from there, the children put up an interesting display of Rajasthan’s art & craft, culture, food, clothes, and other geographical and historical facts. They enjoyed sampling Rajasthani delicacies as well as dressing up as locals. Puppet shows, music and dance were presented also.

Oh! To be a child again………………!!!

Walt Disney said, “Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.”

The Nursery and Prep teachers displayed the truth of this on Children’s Day. They dressed up in our school uniform to welcome the children on 14th November- Children’s Day. The joy, the smiles on our little one’s faces as they walked in through the school gates, was incredible. Such a wonderful way to go back to childhood!

A red carpet led the children into the school building, making superstars of them all. All day long, exciting activities, song and dance, kept the children   

happy and entertained. Sounds of laughter rang out throughout the school, spreading out, enveloping all.

Wings of Fire- the Investiture Ceremony for Class V was a spectacular presentation, held in October 2022. The Principal of Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram, Ms. Padma Srinivasan presided as the chief guest. 

Taking its theme from the autobiography of Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam- the Missile Man of India as well as the President, the presentation was an amalgam of various art forms. The tableau incorporated the school orchestra, recitation, enactment, dance, music and a heart-swelling march past by the school appointees. The proud parents cheered the new badge holders, who were filled with pride and a sense of responsibility.

Our little Preppers were full of excitement as they awaited the arrival of their grandparents for their presentation. Each day of the designated week saw a section of Prep dancing and singing, hearts full of joy and smiling faces.

All the sections of Prep put forth a shlok of invocation, a song for Happy Diwali, which the children also danced to, and a Thank You Grandparents song. A fashion ramp walk saw our little Preppers sashaying as models, leading to applause and cheers. The proud grandparents got Diwali diyas as a takeaway gift. They posed excitedly with their grandchildren at the photo booth, storing the memories for life!

Delhi Public School, East of Kailash was lit up with smiles and exuberance on the eve of Diwali. Uniting us all was the essence of the occasion- diyas, decorations, rangolis, flowers, lanterns, and other symbols- lovingly created by our children. Music and dance abounded, an outlet for joyful hearts. Greetings were shared all around for a happy, healthy and prosperous year.

Diwali – the Festival of Lights – was brought to life in a scintillating presentation
by Class 1. A mix of song and dance, decorations and flowers, enthralled
everyone. The entire school joined in with the singing of popular Diwali songs.
All look forward to celebrating the festival of hope and joy.

The victory of good over evil – this is the underlying message of Dussehra. The prayer that ‘May truth always triumph’ inspires this festival and symbolizes the Hindu god, Ram’s, vanquishing the ten headed demon king, Ravan. 

The children wholeheartedly enjoyed making drawings and puppets relating to Dussehra. A puppet show for the Nursery sections was enthusiastically enjoyed by our little ones. Stories relating to Dussehra, and its celebrations in different ways were shared by the children. 

The 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi- the Father of the Nation- was celebrated with an assembly depicting aspects of his wonderful, awe-inspiring life. Important events like the Dandi March, spinning of the charkha, and some scenes of the fight for independence were highlighted. The use of Mahatma Gandhi’s personal belongings were also spoken about. The entire school sang the bhajans Gandhiji was fond of. Activities emphasing the principles of his teachings were done. ‘See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’- was an inherent guiding light for the Mahatma, one which the children of Delhi Public School, East of Kailash pledged to adhere to.

Hindi Diwas commemorates the adoption of Hindi as the official language of India, on 14^th September, 1949. Delhi Public School, East of Kailash celebrated Hindi Diwas this year, on 14^th September, 2022.

Interesting activities relating to Hindi and its importance were done in all the classes. Children participated enthusiastically in recitation, doha speaking, story telling, art and craft work on family ties and values. It was a colourful and festive commemoration.
