‘Breakfast with family is a big treat to start a great weekend.’

The weekend came early for our tiny tots of Delhi Public School, East of Kailash, when their dear fathers were invited to spend some quality time with the children, at breakfast. The children and their fathers teamed up to prepare their own healthy breakfast in the Cooking Without Fire activity. The children and their father took part in the activity with great fervour. 

The delicacies prepared didn’t just satisfy the taste buds but also escalated the feeling of love and togetherness amongst all. It was indeed a treat for the eyes to see the students embracing the day with open arms and a plate full of taste and health.

    Leadership is not about titles or positions. It’s about one life influencing another. It takes a lot of strength and determination to make a difference but once you do, you bloom like a fresh flower in the garden, being celebrated each day. To laud the extraordinary talents of the students appointed to the School Council 2023-24, Delhi Public School, East of Kailash organised the Investiture Ceremony on Saturday, 7th October 2023, in the school campus. 

The program began with the ushering to the almighty and lighting of the lamp by the chief guest- Ms. Padma Srinivasan, Principal, Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. It was followed by a mesmerising Invocation Dance. A Musical Medley by our young and skillful artists held everyone’s attention. The school report shared by our respected headmistress, Ms. Usha Diptivilasa, provided parents with an insight about the school’s smooth functioning. Next in line was the captivating Samagam, a jugalbandi of English recitation and Sanskrit shloka chanting. A rhythmic exposition ‘A Thousand Splendid Stars’, which also was the theme of the programme, aptly summed up the children and staff of East of Kailash.This filled our hearts with joy and eagerness for what the future holds. It was then followed by the distribution of titles and the oath taking ceremony, with a pledge to responsibly uphold the position they’d been selected for. Heartfelt speeches by the members of the newly appointed student council were made. Last but not the least, the chief guest graced the occasion with her words of wisdom. 

The program concluded with the vote of thanks, followed by the school anthem and national anthem. An atmosphere of pride and joy encompassed the entire exuberant ceremony.

Road safety is an important issue that needs to be addressed amongst children, as well as adults. To inculcate road safe habits and sensitize children, a Road and Tyre Safety workshop by Fun-Troos Ventures LLP

 was held in Delhi Public School, East of Kailash on  Tuesday, 26th September 2023.                                                          

Relevant information  regarding the topic was shared in the form of an interesting quiz, as well as some games. The children answering correctly were given small prizes relating to Road Safety.

The excitement and laughter, of both teachers and children in Delhi Public School East of Kailash, pointed towards a day looked forward to. Teacher’s Day!!

This year was extra special- our Headmistress, Mrs. Usha Diptivilisa had been honoured with the State Teachers’Award 2023, instituted by the Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The day started with the children lined up to extend a red carpet welcome to the arriving teachers. Cards made by them and heartfelt wishes were given to the teachers. This was followed by exhilarating fun-filled group competitions, where the teachers participated in amazingly creative activities. 

All the teachers then proceeded to Delhi Public School R.K.Puram, where a sumptuous feast was laid out. Usha Ma’am was felicitated by our Principal Ms.Padma Srinivisan, to the resounding cheers of all! Such a proud achievement!

These festivities were followed by a film at the nearby Sangam theatre for all teachers. The camaraderie and bonhomie made the viewing even more enjoyable. It was a joyous day, with memorable celebrations.

    HE WHO PLANTS A TREE PLANTS A HOPE- Lucy Larcom

To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a sensitisation campaign on environmental concerns such as energy conservation, wastage of food at social gatherings, hazards of electronic waste, conservation of resources, plastic pollution, etc was conducted at Delhi Public School, East of Kailash.

A massive tree plantation campaign called ‘One Child, One Plant’ was undertaken in the school premises under the able leadership of the Headmistress, Ms Usha Diptivilasa. tudents were explained the importance of trees,and each student was advised to plant a sapling, wherever convenient- in pots, at home, in the boundaries of playgrounds, or any other place which was approachable to them, under the guidance of their parents.

Students shared their pictures with the plant, with their Class Teacher. They discussed the variety/ species of the tree/ sapling planted, its benefits, its occurrence, the kind of care it requires, etc. in the class.

 Our Headmistress, Mrs. Usha Diptivilisa, has been honoured with the State Teachers’ Award 2023, instituted by the Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.This is an award to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers and to recognise and regard their commitment and dedication to improving the quality of education, as well as enriching the lives of their students. The award was presented by Ms.Atishi Marlena, Minister of Education, Delhi, at a special ceremony in the evening of Teacher’s Day, Tuesday 5th September 2023, held at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi.

This is indeed a matter of great honour and happiness for all of us at Delhi Public School, East of Kailash. Congratulations and best wishes for future endeavours, Usha Ma’am!       

The tiny tots of our Cambridge Early Years 1&2, corresponding to Nursery and Prep, are enjoying the progamme tremendously. The emphasis here is on extensive hands-on learning. Activities relating to Independence Day, Janamasthami, fun play using natural materials, and learning letters and words in a creative manner are just some of the interesting pursuits occupying the hands and minds of our youngest learners. The small number of children in a class, along with two teachers, in the Cambridge programme ensures plenty of opportunities and undivided attention for each student.

Independence Day Activity On 15 August 2023, India witnessed the 77th Independence Day. To commemorate this auspicious occasion, students paid homage to the valiant souls who fought gallantly for our peace by participating in various activities. The students showcased their creative side and collectively aspired for a brighter tomorrow. The spirit of patriotism became alive through tricolour badge making, tricolour fan making, poster making, paragraph writing and role play activity. The entire school was awash with the colours of our flag- saffron, white and green. The zeal and enthusiasm with which the students participated was admirable. We at DPS hope to organise more such events that provide the students a platform to bring out their innate talent and at the same time develop the values, principles and ethics of being a morally right citizen.

Mornings become bright and sweet, like ribbon candy if spent innovatively and productively. We, at DPS East of Kailash, tend to make our students’ day bright and the mornings brighter. With various activities and events, our intent is to channelize the energy in each child, into constructive learning. One such way is giving vent to their creativity with the class assembly. It not only focuses on creating a positive environment that fosters unity and cooperation, but also develops desirable values and optimism amongst the students.
The month of April 2023, observed many spectacular mornings as the students of class V showcased their prowess in the morning assemblies. The confidence, creativity, spontaneity and self-reliance that was reflected in the students’ performance was worth every applause. The themes of the assemblies were as follows:

V D- Wellness: A Many Splendoured Thing
V E- When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens
V F- Believing in Yourself
Parents were invited to attend these presentations, and the infectious enthusiasm of the children spread smiles all around.
