TOPIC: Colours of Thankfulness

CLASS TEACHERS: Ms Sonam Pandey and Ms Mohini Lal

The assembly of I F, titled ‘Colours of Thankfulness’ attempted to inculcate gratitude and thankfulness in the children.

The students began the assembly with the recitation of a prayer. The students of class I F were able to depict their theme effectively in their assembly through a poem recitation, and short speeches followed by parent interactions. An energetic dance performance on the theme brought the assembly to a close. The students displayed a wealth of talent through dance performances and music recitals. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.

TOPIC: Optimism, Mindfulness and Never Giving Up

CLASS TEACHERS: Ms Sanjana Sharma and Ms Jyotika Khanna

The assembly of I E, titled ‘Optimism, Mindfulness and Never Giving Up’ aimed to foster a positive attitude in children.

The students began the assembly with the recitation of a prayer. The students were able to depict their theme effectively in their assembly through the recitation of an inspirational poem on optimism and never giving up, followed by a song. The students showcased their many talents through the assembly like dance, hoola hoop, and cartwheels. The assembly included a mindful session on hand mudras in which the parents participated eagerly. The assembly ended with a group dance performance on the theme. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.

TOPIC: Uniquely United

DATE: 25th September, 2024

CLASS TEACHERS: Ms Nidhi Verma and Ms Harmeet Kaur

The assembly of I D, titled ‘Uniquely United’ aimed to show the unique skills and talents of the children.   

The students began the assembly with the recitation of a prayer. The students followed it up with a poem titled ‘Unique’.

The assembly highlighted the unique talents of the  class through a Spanish Song, Krishna Bhajan, and performances of hula hoop, skating, kathak, yoga and cartwheeling. The assembly ended with a lively group dance performance. The assembly ended on a high note with a song displaying the breadth of the class talents. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.

TOPIC: Self Discipline is the Best Discipline

CLASS TEACHERS: Ms Anju Seth and Ms Aleesha Ghambhir

The assembly of I C, titled ‘Self Discipline is the Best Discipline’ aimed to show the integral part that discipline and routine play in our lives.  

The students depicted self discipline through agile yoga asanas, a Hoopla Dance performance, a Kathak performance and a skilled skating routine. The assembly began with a chanting of the Gayatri mantra and the Ganesh Vandana. The students spoke about the importance of self discipline and recited a poem based on the theme. The entire class participated in a group dance performance which brought the assembly to a close. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.

Class Assembly I B

TOPIC: Wellness Warriors

DATE: 12th September, 2024

CLASS TEACHERS: Ms Soniya Bhushan and Ms Ankita Negi

The assembly of I B, titled ‘Wellness Warriors’ aimed to show the importance of health and fitness in our daily lives.  

The different aspects of health and fitness were effectively portrayed on the stage by the students of I B through poems, songs, and a thought for the day. The students began their assembly with Sanskrit shlokas and a song. The assembly ended with a lively Zumba routine that energised everyone in the audience. The students of I B were able to relay the importance of health and fitness in all its forms. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.

Class Assembly I A

TOPIC: Safety Squad

DATE: 10th September, 2024

CLASS TEACHERS: Ms. Dimple Malhotra and Ms. Mridusmita Sharma

The assembly of I A, titled ‘Safety Squad’ aimed to show the need for safety and vigilance in various areas of life. 

The students began the assembly with the recitation of a prayer. They touched upon the different aspects of the theme through a group discussion, a poem and parent interactions. The students then performed a dance on Daily Safety. The students  demonstrated the need for vigilance and safety at home, in school and in the digital environment. They gained valuable lessons on personal safety through the assembly. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.

Visit to the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

The students of Class IV visited the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya on Friday, 10th May 2024. The museum is a tribute to the past prime ministers of our country and their contributions. The trip provided an immersive experience for the students who were able to visualise post independence India through different interactive displays. Museums provide a unique learning experience to young minds and the students were very receptive to the new information they picked up on their visit. It is of paramount importance for children to have diverse sources of learning and the Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya provided an exceptional educational experience. 

Visit to Ambedkar Memorial

The students of Class V visited the Ambedkar Memorial on Wednesday, 8 May, 2024. It was a wonderful learning experience for the students who watched history come alive in front of them through different audio visual displays. Dr. Ambedkar’s struggle and triumph against all odds inspired the students of class V and lit the fire of curiosity in them. Through different interactive sessions, they gained a deeper understanding of history. The museum also houses a photo archive where the students observed different photographs of Dr. Ambedkar. 

The visit was a truly enriching educational experience that broadened the horizons of history for many students. 

HOCKEY WORKSHOP

A workshop on Hockey Awareness was held on 16 May, 2024. Mr. Gaurav Singh, a hockey player himself, and the president of the Dhyan Chand Foundation came to DPS East of Kailash to enthuse the students and awaken a love for hockey in them. Mr. Singh had a lively interaction with the students about the importance of physical fitness and playing a sport like hockey. He narrated personal anecdotes and explained the significance of the sport. Mr. Singh encouraged the students to participate in morning games and explained the physical and mental health benefits of early morning exercise. The students responded enthusiastically to the workshop and were eager to participate in future sporting events. 

BOOK FAIR

Reading is a habit that ensures that one is never lonely. DPS East of Kailash believes in the holistic development of children, and provides different opportunities for the little bookworms to read. DPS EOK held a Book Fair organised by the Ministry of Culture, on its premises on 11th May, 2024. The headmistress, Ms. Usha Diptivilasa, herself an avid reader, presided over the event. The book fair began with the lighting of the lamp, and the headmistress cut the ribbon. DPS students, accompanied by their parents, showed immense enthusiasm at the fair. They browsed different genres and skimmed through the books and catalogues. The day ended with content smiles from the little bibliophiles, eager to go home and read their special finds.
